Kate Thomas, LMT

Kate is the owner of Collective Good Integrative Health, having expanded her one-person practice into a community of skilled practitioners. Following her foundational massage education at the Dayton School of Medical Massage, her practice has evolved into specializing in support for those navigating grief or loss and for those seeking palliative relief from a serious or terminal illness. She has taken Grief Massage coursework with the Institute for Grief Massage and has studied oncology massage through Healwell.

Kate enjoys slow work with massage: slow hands, pauses, chances for the body to receive, process, and absorb into itself. Chances to stretch into the long arc of time. Her practice is guided by the use of “friendly” hands (rather than painful techniques) to soothe the nervous system, relieve bodies from pain, provide a space to drop into deep rest, and contribute to the relationship clients have with themselves — and in turn, the world. She enjoys tuning into the person she is working with and providing a flow that taps into their deep well of being.

Her practice is inclusive and affirming; she is experienced and comfortable working with a diverse clientele: a mosaic of shapes, sizes, ages, abilities, ethnicities, races, and genders. Please note the massage table Kate uses is ADA compliant, 32” wide, and has a 600 lb weight capacity. She enjoys seeing clients who come from different walks of life with varying reasons for seeking massage therapy.

Kate is interested in working with clients seeking a gentle approach to massage, and clients seeking massage for palliative care or bereavement support. She also enjoys working with people with different abilities. Contact Kate if you are open to gentle touch, a sense of curiosity, and an opportunity to rest.

While not at Collective Good, Kate enjoys volunteering with hospice, hiking and snuggling with her dog (Charley Jean), cooking colorful meals, reading and writing, and spending time with her husband (Shannon).

Healing With Grief Massage

Grief Massage ~

A deep breath for the tired body,

a warm palm meeting you where you’re at,

a quiet sanctuary for your tenderness,

a sacred resting place on your journey…

The heart of grief massage is to offer a space for you to show up with your grief, as you are, without judgment or questions. Here, there is no need to keep it together or perform — just you, safe on a warm massage table, with open palms at your back.

Note: Grief Massage is for those seeking rest from the physical symptoms of acute grief (tearfulness, fatigue, a feeling of tightness/heaviness, insomnia, aches and pains) and those yearning for peace in their hearts. It’s important to keep in mind that massage therapists are not licensed counselors or therapists and can not diagnose or treat mental health conditions, or provide psychological support for emotional/mental well-being. It is kindly requested that if you are looking for therapeutic talking related to your grief experience or recent loss, to contact a mental health professional.

“Kate is the ultimate professional with a combination of experience and continued research in massage technique. She is also a warm and kind person who can connect with you on a personal level. Any worries or stress I may carry at the time of my sessions melt away as I drift into a deep state of rest. She truly offers a gift of physical and mental health to her clients.” - S.W.
